Global insurance and reinsurance broking group Aon has named Lloyd’s of London’s Ed Thomas as head of Lloyd’s Capital within its Reinsurance Solutions Capital Advisory team, based in London.
In his new role, Thomas takes on responsibility for leading the broker’s Lloyd’s-focused Capital Advisory services.
He will have a focus on capital-raising and capacity-enhancing initiatives that support managing agencies’ growth strategies, while helping them to navigate volatility and build resilience, explains Aon.
Thomas will also support the creation of new syndicates and the delivery of risk transfer and capital optimisation programmes, recognising that Lloyd’s remains one of the world’s leading marketplaces for the deployment of specialty insurance and reinsurance capital.
He joins the broker from Lloyd’s, where he held several executive positions, most recently as head of Member Services, a role in which he was responsible for overseeing approximately £37 billion of funds at Lloyd’s.
During his time with the world’s oldest insurance and reinsurance marketplace, Thomas also helped develop its pioneering insurance-linked securities (ILS) structures, serving as director to Lloyd’s insurance risk transformation entities London Bridge Risk PCC Limited and London Bridge 2 PCC Limited.
He brings over 15 years of experience to Aon, and also lasting relationships with both investors and capital providers. Previously, Thomas held roles with Deloitte, Chubb, and The Ardonagh Group.
