Patria Re strengthens property treaty underwriting team

Ironshore International’s Pembroke Managing Agency Limited has revealed the addition of property treaty underwriters to the Patria Re underwriting team.

Patria Re logoPatria Re is a global reinsurance entity focused on the Latin American markets, with Pembroke acting as the third-party managing agent for the Lloyd’s of London approved Special Purpose Arrangement (SPA), which underwrites a portfolio of property casualty programs for Latin American cedents.

Nicolas Benardout has been named Divisional Director and Jack Bunting named Assistant Underwriter for Patria Re’s International Property Treaty business lines, according to an announcement from Ironshore.

Benardout has more than 25 years of reinsurance industry experience, and most recently served as Head of Property Treaty at Berkley Re UK. He has also led property treaty underwriting activities at Chaucer Syndicate, Hartford Re, and Mercantile and General Re.

Bunting joins the Latin American focused reinsurer from Berkley Re, where he was most recently an assistant underwriter for Benardout’s Property Treaty unit, for over four years.

Commenting on the appointments Chris Brown, Pembroke Strategic Partnership Director, said; “The Patria Re Lloyd’s SPA has built a broad and diverse portfolio based on established Patria Re relationships. Nick and Jack’s expertise will enable the SPA to continue to build on the robust foundation that has been established.”
