Bermuda-domiciled insurer and reinsurer AXIS Capital Holdings has appointed Peter Smith as the Head of Cyber North America and Tara Sapru as the Head of Technical Underwriting in its Global Cyber & Technology (GCT) team, effective immediately.<\/p>\n

\"axisAs the Head of Cyber North America, Smith will lead underwriting strategy and efforts to develop the range of specialty cyber solutions that AXIS delivers in partnership with both retail and wholesale brokers across the region.<\/p>\n

Smith is an experienced cyber specialist, most recently, serving as GCT Regional Underwriting Manager and Head of Middle Market Strategy, following a series of management roles at AXIS. Before joining AXIS in 2020, he held cyber-focused positions at reinsurer Swiss Re and broker Marsh.<\/p>\n

Sapru, as Head of Technical Underwriting, will lead the product management team and guide the unit’s approach to underwriting and portfolio management. Most recently, she served as Global Product Leader, Cyber & Technology E&O.<\/p>\n

Sapru joined AXIS in 2019 following 13 years at global insurer AIG where she served as Assistant General Counsel and having previously held roles at Sedgwick and De Vos.<\/p>

The pair will report to Lori Bailey, Head of Global Cyber & Technology.<\/p>\n

Bailey commented on the appointmnets, “Pete\u2019s expansive cyber underwriting acumen combined with his market knowledge and leadership are a great asset to our team and to AXIS as we develop our cyber proposition and meet our ambitions to be a leader in our specialty markets.<\/p>\n

“As a valued teammate and leader within GCT, Tara\u2019s vast cyber product knowledge will be pivotal in helping us achieve our goals as she steps into this new, elevated role. These well-deserved promotions are testament to the caliber of talent in our team.”<\/p>\n

The appointments follow a realignment of responsibilities and simplification of the structure within the re\/insurer’s GCT team. This has led to the loss of three senior positions within the team: Head of Cyber US Open Market, Head of Wholesale Cyber, and Cyber CUO. As a result, Eric Seyfried, Glen Manjos, and Simon Dejung will be departing AXIS.<\/p>\n

As part of the change, AXIS\u2019 Wholesale Cyber team will be further integrated into the North American GCT unit, with the team reporting directly to Smith.<\/p>\n
